Line Update – The Current and Future of Rcane’s Guides

Today, we want to take a look at the newest line to join the D3 Adventures offerings: Rcane’s Guides.

These products are designed for both players and game masters in mind. Each one offers a variety of rules for some of the most popular game systems currently available. This might include new races, spells, feats, items, religions, or other options. They are written in reference to various D3 campaign settings but work equally well in any homebrew world.

Pathfinder Role=Playing Game Compatible

Below is a brief description of each product, the system(s) they are intended for, and an estimated release date (life happens, but we try to make accurate guesses).

This guide includes five new races descended from metallic dragons (a new race and five sub-races for 5E), new magic items, new spells, new feats, and new deities. This product is available for both 5E and the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

  • Rcane’s Guide to Planar Travel – RGP01 – Summer/Fall 2017

This guide will include explanations on various types of planes and the interactions of those planes, new spells, new magic items, and new races related to various outsiders. This product will be designed for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

  • Rcane’s Guide to Fantastic Races: The Chromatic Dragon Descended – RGFR02 – Fall 2017

This guide will include five new races descended from chromatic dragons, new magic items, new spells, new feats, and new deities. This product will be designed for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

  • Rcane’s Guide to Fantastic Races: The Elves – RGFR03 – Fall 2017/Winter 2018

This guide will include at least five new varieties of elves, including those found in Extras! Elven Explorers (for 5E). It will also include new elven deities, new spells, new magic items, and new feats specifically designed for elves. This product will be designed for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

As changes are made to these planned projects, they will be updated here. There are currently 11 additional products in this line in the planning stages.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned.

Happy Gaming!

Do You Know Curtis Baum?

Do you know Curtis Baum? Come inside for an introduction.

Today we take a look at Curtis Baum. He is easily the most prolific writer among the D3 Adventurers and it has earned him the title of Senior Line Developer. He has the helm on four product lines (Adventure!, Extras!, Romp!,  and Tangent!) with a fifth (Rcane’s Guides that are Pathfinder compatible and 5th Edition) on the way.

Curtis has been playing various role-playing games since he was a child. Initially starting with Dungeons and Dragons (boxed set), he quickly diversified to several different game systems.

His first published work was an internet fan collection which dated back to at least 1996, The Gallery of Magical Blades, where he contributed a holy sword. Since then, he has been a contributing author, author, and editor on over a dozen projects, most within the last 5 years. His list of credits is rather extensive, even before he started with D3 Adventures.

Today, he works from home and teaches his two daughters the fine art of gaming. He games an average of twice per week, including online. He currently plays Pathfinder, Shadowrun, and Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. He organizes table-top gaming at Salt Lake Gaming Con, Salt Lake Fan X, and Salt Lake Comic Con in Utah, and attends several others.  He is always looking for a good game. His older daughter (Jean, and our next featured D3 Adventurer) is learning to drive, and going to community college full time. She is a GM in Pathfinder Society. His younger daughter just started learning to code HTML and CSS as a summer project. But she is really a ranger at heart with a great love for rabbits and cats.

Be sure to join us next Monday when we learn more about fledgling author; Jean Baum.

Do you Know Mark Adams?

Independant Publisher 10 Years Achievement Unlocked D3 AdventuresDo you know Mark Adams? Come inside for an introduction.Independant Publisher Freelance Author

Mark Adams is one of the newest members of the team of freelancers we call the D3 Adventurers. He was shangha…erm…recruited by Curtis Baum as an author for the Tangent! line of products, and more specifically Tangent #9: Trade Wars.  This particular title got its inspiration from Marks long running home campaign centered on a decaying port city.

When not writing for us, Mark can be found penning stories for Fat Goblin Games and their upcoming Steampunk Musha setting. In addition to writing excellent stories and adventures, Mark works for a charity called Carers Support, far across the Pond in the land of Monty Python.

Be sure to join us next Monday when we learn more about our web, layout, editing and marketing goddess; Christi Baum.

10 Years Old!

Hello everyone!

It’s hard to believe, but as of June 7th, D3 Adventures will be a decade old. It’s been one heck of a ride with many ups and downs and having started the company with zero experience being a game publisher, there’s been no shortage of learning. I’ve worn many hats during this journey and I’ve met and worked with a great many creative and wonderful people. It is without a doubt the hard work, creativity and eternal patience of these folks that we’ve been able to keep D3 moving forward.

So instead of focusing on Anne and I, we’ve decided to showcase the people that have been creating our products for the last few years. Starting May 29th, I will be posting a small write-up about a contractor or employee that has worked on at least 1 or more titles for us. I will also list all of the titles they have worked on and will give a 10% discount on those titles. Each Monday I will showcase another person and their titles in the same fashion until I have gone through each person that has participated in our company’s endeavors. Each name will be selected alphabetically, by last name.

So keep an eye on this page for new listings and show these talented people some love by purchasing their work and sharing their story far and wide.

Dungeon Master or Game Master, a salute to the those that make gaming possible

The first Dungeon Master I met
The first Dungeon Master I met

I know specific games call the person who makes rule decisions different names.  Storyteller, dungeon master, game master, Games-Operational-Director… but what ever you call that man or woman that continues week after week to provide you and your friends with an escape from real life, this week is a toast to them.

Many of the men and women at D3 are GMs (I’ll use the generic term for ease).  That is how they came to see the need for their product.  I’m curious today for you to share the images of your gaming table.  Does your GM use a screen?  How big is their pile of dice?  What food do you bring to bribe the GM with?

dm-is-hard-workShare with us the adventures at your table/computer screen.  GMs – share with us your pride and joy as you do your “job”.  What materials do you keep finding yourself needing and wanting?

I’ll start it off with my game this weekend.  I play several Pathfinder Society a month, both on roll20.net and at local gaming stores.  This weekend we had our GM pulling out her raspberry and black hair.  black-raspberryShe started off with a GM screen, but quickly lost it as we started moving around the map.  The younger guy in the photo, to the left of the GM, jumped into a pool of water, unaware of what might be in the water.  He’s lucky he didn’t end up sucked dry by leaches!  But we had fun and barely left the store before it closed.

So, what great stories do you have?  Feel free to share with us!

Plot hooks you say? PC/NPC Extras! Characters

The bane of dungeon masters everywhere.  The party takes interest in what was, until that moment, a minor NPC.  Now suddenly they are stalking the person, asking one hundred questions, and putting more into the encounter than you ever dreamed of.  The best part, they are bringing to life some role-playing that you thought was thrown by the way side.  Only you don’t have a clue what to put together.

The best part of Extras!  They are inexpensive NPCs that are all ready for you, including motivations.

Take, for example, Zanat from the Extras!  Unusual Townfolk (for both 5E and Pathfinder).  He is a conman on the run.  He appears to be a powerful wizard. In truth, he uses magic items and his own minor capabilities to enact this illusion. His various schemes involve performing and selling “magical elixirs” to rich merchants and adventurers. Although he is hiding from the regional guards, he may take an interest in any strangers to the village.

Is your campaign a bit “taller” than that?  In our Extras! Mythic Giants (CR 15 to 20) for Pathfinder, Nernuk is the oldest of the leaders of the Imperium Gargantum. He joined the cause of Karakanos in hopes of establishing a lasting empire for all giants. He has seen the destruction caused by the advance of humanoids for over three centuries and has decided to strike back. Karakanos gives the old stone giant hope where previously there was none.

Cyber Week 50 percent off sale

Now, for the deal… all of our Extras! are 50% off through the rest of Cyber Week from our website.
