Curtain Call

Well folks, it’s all over except for the loose ends. We’ve had a good run of a solid decade. First as D3 Games and then closing out as D3 Adventures. We existed in three states and had contractors from across the globe. What started as a vanity project to release my world of Kamarathin grew into something far more.

Looking back, the evidence is pretty clear that I was a mediocre game publisher, but the endeavor allowed me to help others release their imaginations in digital and print and to put together a group of individuals who might not have met otherwise. I know that at least two people would never have been in the game industry had it not been for their experiences with D3. That is a big win for me.

Our Line Developers are scattering to the gaming winds and bringing their product lines with them. Some, like Curtis Baum (Dire Corgi Games) and Jim Cook (4 Devils Studio) have already begun bringing their lines out under a new umbrella. Others may soon follow, if you don’t see a product line you’ve been following in the wild, reach out and we’ll see if we can’t put you in touch with the powers that be.

I met some amazingly creative folks and the experience has taught me that, while I am likely not going to be a successful publisher, I just might be a successful “fixer”. Throughout my life I’ve become “The guy that knows a guy” and the connections I’ve made over the last 10 years has only shown how true that is. To this end, Anne and I have joined forces with a pair of our friends to take our experience with gaming conventions and our collective connections to start up a new company called Game Theory Events. Information will be slowly trickling out until the big announcement at the end of February.

As for D3, well, I’ll be closing down the website, the Facebook Page, and our products from the various online stores over the following weeks as time permits. If you happen to be in the Houston area for OwlCon there will even be a selection of hard copies that we had left over from conventions available for sale and I’ll be around there, shepherding the special guests.

Until then, thank you for all of your patronage, kind words and support.

Final Farewells

It is regret that I am making the last post of my D3 Adventures career. For the last decade or so, I have been fighting to keep this company afloat. We’ve had our fair share of ups and downs but I was never able to get our sales to a sustainable level. It has finally come time for me to acknowledge that D3 just needs to be put to rest and finally stop the bleeding. I can’t lie, the hurricane and resulting flooding of our house, did not help, but it was more of a final straw than any real cause.

I started D3 as a way to publish my Hero System setting of Kamarathin because corporate America was stressing me to the point of distraction. I had no idea what I was doing. I still have a lot to learn despite the enormous amount I have learned over the past 10 years. Not sure if I’ll get back into game publishing, but I am certainly not leaving gaming and I have an endeavor in place to at least try and make the connections for other creators using the contacts I have gained over the last decade.

Shortly after this post we will announce a fire sale to try and recoup some final royalties for all of the talented folks who have created our content. I have had the pleasure of working with some of the finest people I have ever known and their work shows their talent and love for the hobby.

While D3 is going the way of the Dodo, it is my hope that these wonderful creators will find places in the industry to continue their work.

So, it is with a heavy heart I say; so long and thanks for all the fish.

Introduction to Tome Magnific

Starfinder from D3 Adventures

Today, we are happy to introduce our newest product line. This particular line is designed, from the ground up, to be both PDF and Print-On-Demand available. Each one of these books are massive collections of information specifically for one game system. For example, Powers of the Zantares Cluster.

Our first product in the works is Tome Magnific: Powers of the Zantares Cluster. This product is designed to support the new Starfinder Role-playing Game and contains a ton of options, including:

  • 25 New Ships
  • 20 Enemies with combat details
  • 20 Outposts (including planets, space stations, and solar forts) with descriptions and game mechanics
  • 10 Fully detailed NPCs for the heroes to interact with
  • 10 New playable character races
  • 6 maps, covering the Zantares Cluster as a whole and as individual empires
  • 5 empires with descriptions, histories, and military philosophy

Although this product is still in development, it currently clocks in at 88 pages.

Campaign settings

We are looking for a September/October release for this product and the planning stages for the next book in the series will begin shortly.
