Art by Lena DeGregory at Wizard World Convention

We are pleased to spotlight Lena D Artistry (Lena DeGregory to us).  Lena will be at Wizard World May 13-15, 2016, at the Iowa Events Center.

Lena has been on board with D3 Adventures for awhile now, doing the art for several of our Campaign Toybox products.  You can learn more about Lena by viewing her fancy page at Wizard World, and purchase her D3 Adventures products at Drive Thru RPG.

From Lena’s own words:

Self taught pencil artist who discovered the ability to draw at the age of 40! Picked up my first pencil to draw in February of 2014.

Fluffy little Hedwig my daughter asked me to do. Still working on getting her spots and such into her feathers.
Fluffy little Hedwig my daughter asked me to do. Still working on getting her spots and such into her feathers.

After attempting a drawing or two on my own, I sought out the aid of internet instruction and videos. You tube became a solid source and with the likes of Mark Crilley and My Drawing Tutorials, I learned to refine my portrait skills.

At this point in time, I am still using reference photos and such on most of my art work so many of the pictures I draw are not my own concepts, simply my skills applied to them.

While pencil/graphite is my preferred medium, I have begun to explore watercolor, colored pencil and pastels to bring color into my drawings.

Weekly Ramble: 2016 Winter Preview for D3 Adventures

Paul CaughellHi Everybody, and welcome to the D3 Adventures 2016 Winter Preview! We have some great products coming out this quarter.

From Curtis Baum’s lines, we have the recently released Extras! product Mythic Giants. In concert with that, Curtis is releasing a giant-themed Tangent! mini-adventure, Temple of the Titan Lord, and Let Sleeping Giants Lie, a full-length giant-themed adventure for Pathfinder. Later in the quarter, Curtis is shifting gears with Extras! Cosmic Criminals, a Mutants and Masterminds collection of villains. This quarter should also see the first release in a new line, Rcane’s Guide to Fantastic Races.

Campaign Toybox has some new releases by Joe Davis being released this quarter to add options for your Pathfinder campaigns.  Look for Encore Performance in February, featuring more masterpieces and spells for Bards including a collection of themed spells for the Lightning Seeker Bard. In March, we’ll have Weaponmaster’s Chakram, a themed collection of fighter-subclass archetypes that uses Chakrams as their primary weapons.

For those that are fans of Mutants & Masterminds, releasing under the Super-Powered by M&M license, Jim Cook is working feverishly to finish the art and layout of our Quantum Collapse setting for the Mutants & Masterminds system, with an eye toward release this quarter.

And finally, the Universal Pool System Players Guide and Campaign Companion books are both being edited and revised.  We’re hopeful they will be ready for release this spring.

Be sure to subscribe there to the left to be kept in the loop, or like us on Facebook!

Weekly Ramble: Upcoming Products

Hi Everybody!

We’ve got a lot of interesting stuff going on here at D3 Adventures right now.  Yesterday saw the release of the Universal Pool System: Quickstart Guide and a Demo module to run with it called Escape from the Lazurite Mines.  We’re pretty excited about that and hope everyone enjoys it.

Curtis Baum and his team have been hard at work, and in the next month, we have the first two full releases in the Extras! line:

The life of humanoids is never easy, especially if you have been exiled from your own people.  Unlikely Heroes for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game features five such heroes ranging from level 5-7. Including a crippled kobold, an orphaned goblin, and a scholarly hobgoblin, the members of the Redeemed adventuring party are ready to add to your campaign.

Every village has a few “colorful characters”, and Unusual Townfolk includes five for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. From a traumatized teen to a crazy old lady and everything in between, these level 3 to 5 citizens are ready to be added to your campaign.

And the latest release in the Tangents! Line:

Trade Wars takes the party on an adventure in the city of Ancient Port. Smugglers have been getting bolder and the party needs to deal with this growing threat. Trade Wars is useable in any fantasy campaign!

Joseph Davis, the developer of our Campaign Toybox line, is looking for more artists and writers for his products.  If you’re interested, and like working with Pathfinder, please contact him via email.

Stay tuned for these great products from the wordsmiths here at D3 Adventures.

Weekly Ramble: Comicpalooza Aftermath, New Product Lines, and John Watson

Hi Everybody!

D3 had a fantastic time at Comicpalooza over the weekend, and we showcased the Universal Pool System for a lot of interested people, including some luminaries of the RPG publishing industry (whom we’re really hoping to get feedback from). I’d like to thank our awesome team of GMs (Joseph Davis, Sheena Colbath, Tom Olson, and John Watson) for all their hard work this weekend. Keep reading to see some pictures of our team at the con.

In honor of our attendance at Comicpalooza, Joseph Davis created this little bit of pathfindery goodness:

Con Crud
Type disease, inhaled; Save Fortitude DC20
Onset 1 day; Frequency 1/day
Effect 2 Str damage and 2 Con damage, Exhaustion
Typically attributed to fatigue from long gatherings at educational or arcane conventions, the ‘Con Crud’ as it’s been referred to is the bane of the hard-working entertainer and enthusiast. Easy to catch, and terrible to have, getting rid of the Con Crud typically involves copious amounts of rest. Each day you have the crud after onset, the DC to get rid of it is reduced by 1, and if you rest the full day, you receive a special +4 Circumstance bonus on the Fortitude check to get rid of the disease. While you are afflicted with the Con Crud, you are exhausted, and no effect short of magic can remove it.

In other news: Over the weekend, we also hired a new Line Developer, Jim Cook. Jim is starting up our new Superheroes line, Quantum Collapse, which will be built on the Mutants and Masterminds v3 system. We’re really excited about his plans for the line and I’ll be talking about them more in other rambles.

Curtis Baum is also working hard on expanding his Adventures! line with some new products that you’re sure to enjoy.  More on those in later rambles as well.

This week’s Contributor Spotlight falls on the ever-humble John Watson:

John F. Watson has been involved in tabletop role-playing games since the mid-90s. From traditional fantasy to hard science fiction, he has played and run games from nearly every genre.

John was first published in 2015 by D3 Adventures, with  Tangents!: Fiends at Ft. Worth – a modern day fantasy adventure. He published other things the same year and is currently working on other projects that he hopes will be published soon.

A native Texan, he currently resides in Pennsylvania with his fiancée Erin, dog Ragnar, and three ferrets – Hope, Oscar and Sepia.

John really is selling himself short here. He’s working as a co-developer on a very big project with me, which we’re hoping we should be able to start talking about in a few months.

And now, it’s picture time!

10683416_769269479797005_3250525342250708201_o In other news, Paul reports that he has feedback coming in concerning the UPS, and it is overwhelmingly positive!

Curtis Baum has just informed me that the next Tangent!, Fiends of Forth Worth, is in final edits and should be out by this time next week!

And lastly, Joseph Davis shared this from author Ian Cohen for the next :Campaign Toybox: Chaotic Concoctions!

Ironfoam Bomb (Su)*: When an ironfoam bomb impacts a creature or space,it instantly fills that 5 foot cube space with a thick, rapidly expanding silvery foam. Any creature that takes a direct hit from the ironfoam bomb must save against the bomb’s DC or be grappled. The CMD and Escape Artist DC are equal to the bomb’s DC + 5. The space filled by ironfoam acts as a wall that blocks line of sight and line of effect. It has hardness 5 and 15 hp. Merely being in a targeted square allows the creature to move to any near unoccupied square. An alchemist must have the tanglefoot bomb discovery to select this discovery.

It has been an exciting two weeks here so far in 2015 for D3 Adventures, and we have lots more to come yet, so stay tuned, keep gaming, and take it EZ with D3!
